columbusColumbus Regional Health, a multi-hospital healthcare system in Columbus, Georgia, recently completed a highly successful Strategic Performance Improvement engagement with Integrity Hospital Company. The system set a goal of improving its bottom line by $23.5 million in order to achieve strategic goals and remain strong as an independent healthcare system. Columbus Regional achieved a $27.5 million improvement, a stellar outcome by any measure.

Scott Hill, newly appointed CEO of Columbus Regional, retained Dr. Jack Mitstifer and Michael Rindler to assist with a comprehensive program of leadership development and financial performance improvement. The results exceeded all expectations and position the system for success in 2015 and beyond.

L1010740Dr. Mitstifer and Mr. Rindler worked with Columbus Regional’s board, senior leadership, medical staff leaders, and middle management for a 120-day strategic performance improvement initiative. Previous internal and consulting approaches had failed to achieve desired results. Integrity organized members of management and physician leaders into ten task forces to identify “grass roots” cost reduction and leadership improvements. Columbus Regional’s medical staff was fully engaged and update sessions were held with the Board of Directors and the Medical Staff throughout the engagement.

During this engagement, the Board of Directors invited Dr. Mitstifer and Mr. Rindler to lead several continuing education sessions on governance, which added significant value to the financial improvement and leadership development aspects of their engagement.
